Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1st, 2026

Acevedo, a Professional Corporation (Acevedo) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes how we collect, use, retain, disclose, and protect personal data about you when you visit or interact with our website at acevedoapc.com and any related pages, forms, and online services that link to this policy (collectively, our "Website").

Please read this policy carefully to understand how we handle your information. By using the Website or providing information to us through it, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Website.

No Attorney-Client Relationship; Not Legal Advice

Using this Website, submitting a contact or inquiry form, or otherwise communicating with the Firm through the Website does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and the Firm. An attorney-client relationship is formed only after we have checked for conflicts of interest, agreed to represent you, and confirmed that representation in a written engagement agreement.

Because no attorney-client relationship exists until we confirm one in writing, please do not send us any confidential, sensitive, or time-sensitive information through this Website or by email until we have expressly agreed to represent you. Information you submit before an engagement is confirmed may not be treated as privileged or confidential and may not preclude the Firm from representing another party in a matter adverse to you.

The content of this Website is provided for general informational purposes only, does not constitute legal advice, and should not be relied upon as legal advice for any particular situation. Reading this Website is not a substitute for obtaining advice from a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.

Scope of This Policy

This policy applies only to information we collect:

  • Through the Website.

  • In email, contact forms, chat, and other electronic communications between you and the Website.

This policy does not apply to information collected by:

  • Us offline or through any other means, including any website operated by the Firm or a third party that does not link to this policy.

  • Any third party, including through any application, content, or advertising that may link to or be accessible from the Website.

We may provide additional or supplemental privacy notices for specific features or activities, which will govern where they apply.

Children's and Minors' Data

Our Website is not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from, children under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 18, please contact us using the information in the "Contact Information" section below.

The Personal Data We Collect

"Personal data" (also called "personal information") is information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you as an individual. We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact and identity information, such as your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, employer or organization, and job title.

  • Inquiry and matter information, such as the information you choose to provide when you complete a contact or intake form, request a consultation, subscribe to communications, or otherwise describe your legal needs or the reason for contacting us. (Please review the "No Attorney-Client Relationship" section above before submitting sensitive details.)

  • Communications, including the content of emails, messages, and other communications you send to us through the Website.

  • Device and usage information, such as your IP address, device identifiers, browser type and settings, operating system, referring pages, and details about how you interact with the Website.

  • Cookie and analytics data, as described in the "Cookies and Tracking Technologies" section below.

  • Marketing preferences, such as your subscription status and preferences for receiving newsletters, legal alerts, and event invitations.

We also collect aggregated or de-identified information (for example, statistics about how visitors use the Website) that does not directly identify you. If we combine de-identified or technical data with personal data so that it identifies you, we treat the combined information as personal data.

Some of the information above may be considered sensitive personal information under applicable law (for example, precise geolocation, or account log-in credentials). Where required by applicable law, we will collect and process sensitive personal information only as permitted or with your consent.

How We Collect Your Information

You provide information to us when you complete a contact, consultation, or intake form; subscribe to newsletters or legal alerts; register for an event; apply for a position; or otherwise communicate with us through the Website.

We collect information automatically as you navigate the Website, using cookies and similar technologies to collect usage details, IP addresses, and information about your interactions with the Website.

We may receive information from third parties, such as analytics providers, marketing platforms, and, where applicable, referral sources, and may combine it with information we collect directly from you.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Website, remember your preferences, understand how the Website is used, and improve its performance.

  • Cookies. A cookie is a small file placed on your device. You can set your browser to refuse or disable some or all cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some features of the Website may not function properly.

  • Analytics. We use web analytics services (for example, to measure traffic and usage patterns). These providers may set their own cookies and collect information about your use of the Website.

  • Web beacons and pixels. Some pages and emails may contain small electronic files that let us count visitors, measure the popularity of content, and understand engagement with our communications.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. Because there is no common industry standard for interpreting DNT signals, the Website may not respond to them. However, where required by applicable law, we will make reasonable efforts to honor an opt-out preference signal, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC), that we detect from your browser or device.

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal data we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries, evaluate potential engagements, and check for conflicts of interest.

  • Provide legal services to clients and administer client relationships and matters.

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Website and analyze how it is used.

  • Send you newsletters, legal alerts, event invitations, and other communications you have requested (you may opt out at any time — see "Your Choices" below).

  • Manage recruiting and respond to job applications submitted through the Website.

  • Comply with our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations, enforce our terms, resolve disputes, and protect the rights, property, and safety of the Firm, our clients, and others.

  • Fulfill any other purpose for which you provide the information, or with your consent.

How We Disclose Your Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may disclose personal data as follows:

  • Service providers. To vendors and contractors who perform services on our behalf — such as website hosting, email and marketing platforms, analytics providers, and IT and security services — who are bound to keep the information confidential and use it only to provide services to us.

  • Professional and legal requirements. To courts, government or regulatory authorities, or other parties as necessary to comply with a legal obligation, court order, subpoena, or lawful request, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

  • Business transfers. To a successor or acquirer in connection with a merger, reorganization, dissolution, or other transaction involving the Firm, subject to applicable professional-responsibility obligations.

  • Protection of rights and safety. Where we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Firm, our clients, or others, or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.

  • With your consent, or as otherwise disclosed at the time you provide the information.

Any disclosure of client information remains subject to our professional obligations of confidentiality, including the attorney-client privilege and applicable rules of professional conduct.

Your Choices

  • Marketing communications. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any such message or by contacting us using the information below. We may still send you non-marketing communications, such as those relating to an existing engagement.

  • Cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, as described above.

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

This section applies to residents of California and supplements the rest of this policy. It is provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"). Under the CCPA, "personal information" does not include publicly available information or information exempt under the statute.

Categories of personal information we collect

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following statutory categories of personal information (as defined by the CCPA) about California residents:

  • Identifiers, such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number, and IP address.

  • California customer records information, such as contact information and any information you provide in a form or communication.

  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as browsing and interaction data and information collected through cookies.

  • Geolocation data (general location derived from IP address).

  • Professional or employment-related information, such as employer, job title, and information submitted with a job application.

  • Inferences drawn from the above to understand your interests and preferences.

We may collect sensitive personal information only to the limited extent you provide it (for example, account log-in credentials). We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit its use under the CCPA.

Sources, purposes, and disclosures

We collect this information from the sources, and use it for the purposes, described in the "How We Collect Your Information" and "How We Use Your Information" sections above. We may disclose these categories of personal information to the categories of recipients described in "How We Disclose Your Information," including our service providers.

Sale and sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the CCPA. We also do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Your CCPA rights

Subject to the exceptions and verification requirements in the CCPA, California residents have the right to:

  • Know/Access. Request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it.

  • Delete. Request that we delete personal information we have collected from you.

  • Correct. Request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (although, as noted, we do not sell or share personal information).

  • Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (to the extent applicable).

  • Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

How to exercise your California rights

To submit a request to know, delete, correct, opt out, or limit, please contact us by emailing us at contact@acevedoapc.com

We will verify your request by matching the information you provide against the information we maintain. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may require the agent to provide proof of authorization and may require you to verify your identity directly with us. We will respond within the timeframes required by the CCPA.

California "Shine the Light"

California residents may request information about our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

How We Protect Your Personal Data

We use commercially reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards designed to protect your personal data from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no website or method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to or through the Website. Email, chat, and web forms may not be secure — please consider this before sending information to us, and remember not to send confidential information before an engagement is confirmed. Any transmission of personal data is at your own risk.

How Long We Keep Your Personal Data

We keep personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy — including responding to your inquiry, providing and administering legal services, and operating the Firm — and for as long as otherwise required or permitted by law, our professional and regulatory obligations, and our records-retention policies. When personal data is no longer needed, we delete, destroy, or de-identify it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and post the updated policy on the Website. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
